  • 1- ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    Entrance requirements for VIHS are based on the results of O level, IGCSE and SSC examinations (or equivalent). Please note that grades A*, A, B and C are pass grades and that VIHS will only consider O level, IGCSE and SSC examinations (or equivalent) taken in the last two years (i.e. August 2022 or later).

     

    1.1- Criteria A - passed minimum 8 subjects in O’level (IGCSE subjects and SSC) with C grade and above

    1.2- Criteria B - passed minimum 5 subjects in O’level (IGCSE subjects and SSC) with C grade and above

    1.3- Criteria C - passed minimum 3 subjects in O’level (IGCSE subjects and SSC) with C grade and above

    1.4- Criteria D - under special consideration after student interview. An assessment may be given to evaluate student’s academic standard.

     

    2- SUBJECTS OFFERED AT VIHS

     

    2.1- ENGLISH

    • English as a Second Language (Cambridge IGCSE) is compulsory for all students who achieved below C grade in O Level/IGCSE English.
    • CAE is offered for students who have achieved B/C in IGCSE English as a Second Language (Extended) or C in O Level English Language.
    • Students who achieved A* or A in IGCSE English as a First/Second Language may choose CPE.
    • Students who have achieved A*, A or B in O Level English Language or IGCSE English - First Language may also opt for CPE.
    • Students with a C in IGCSE English as a Second Language (Core) cannot opt for CAE.
    • Students who are eligible for CPE may choose CAE if they wish.

    English as a Second Language (Cambridge IGCSE) is compulsory for all students who achieved below C grade in O Level/IGCSE English.

    2.3- MATHEMATICS

    Students may choose to study Mathematics with either Science Stream, Business Stream or BTEC Stream.


     2.4- STREAM SUBJECTS AND OPTIONS

    • We students may choose a total of FIVE or SIX subjects. Students may choose up to SEVEN subjects (English, HSC, Stream and Optional) if they have scored "A" grade or higher in 5 subjects in IGCSE and HSE examinations.
    • Students may choose TWO or THREE subjects from Science or Business stream or ONE subject from Pearsons Diploma L3.
    • Pearsons Diploma Level 3, one subject is equivalent to two A-level subjects.
    • Students can choose ONE or TWO optional subjects.
    • Students who completed O Level/IGCSE Science Stream may choose Business Stream subjects if they have O' level 3 passes.

     Please consider the following points when choosing subjects:

    • Choose subjects that will contribute to your desired career path. THREE stream subjects will give students a better chance and greater options in university education.
    • Students who are targeting for A Level National Top 10, Presidential Scholarship or High Achievers’ Scholarship must study Dhivehi Language, Islamic Studies and THREE Edexcel/Cambridge IAL subjects.
